How unusual! A large Saguaro died some years ago and is rotting, but this Palo Verde tree is holding up the skeleton.

It's ironic because a Saguaro needs to spend it's first 5 years growing in the shade of a Palo Verde tree. Eventually the tree grows old and dies, leaving the cactus alone in the sun. Here another Palo Verde tree must have grown up next to the mature cactus, eventually outliving it. From cradle to grave...
